After a long deliberation I’ve decided to change the style of the dial slightly. I really want the Tugela to be a unique dive watch design, that can stand on its own when viewed next to a Rolex or Tudor, and not be a homage. I also think the new design ties in better with the story and background of the watch, and the company itself.
Instead of the round markers, I have opted for equilateral triangles. The markers at 12, 3 and 9 will stay the same. The triangle shape is very important in Zulu design, notably their beadwork, and since the Drakensberg mountains were once the historic training ground for this African tribe, it only seemed fitting that I incorporate it in the design.
The second hand will still fit neatly into the shape below the 12 hour marker, although I wont know how closely it will fit until I receive the prototypes.
When will the watches be produced?
We’re hoping to launch end of September on Kickstarter.
Your design looks great. Looking forward to your guys launch on kickstarter so I can see prices. Will you ship internationally?
Yes. We will ship internationally. Earlybird on Kickstarter will be about $250.
Perhaps with Snowflakes hands i would like more.
Hi there
Are you still on track for End September Kickstarter launch?
Hi Howard. After reviewing the prototypes there are a few changes that I would like to make. I’ll be putting put a newsletter to update all the followers, but unfortunately this is going to put quite a delay on the launch. Possibly mid November.
