The GMT follows the original Tugela with the dial taking inspiration from the beadwork of the Zulu tribe, but now with applied bead-blasted indices. The case gets its tapered shape from the Protea flower, the bezel edges mimicking the petals. This tapered shape reduces the footprint on-wrist, making for a very comfortable fit, even for smaller wrists. On the case back you’ll find the stamped design of the Drakensberg mountains, with the Tugela river in the foreground.
Under the hood is the elaboré grade Sellita SW330-2 automatic movement. It’s a Swiss high-beat movement with 28,800bph, hacking and hand-winding. It’s a reliable and solid workhorse that is extremely accurate, and it features a GMT complication. This means it’s got an extra hand that rotates independently around the dial once every 24 hours, making it ideal for tracking the time of a second timezone, or even a third.
A 48-click bi-directional ball-bearing bezel provides a crisp and satisfying click ensuring easy adjusting for any time zone. The aluminium insert is deeply engraved and filled with X1-C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova™ for ultimate night brightness.
The engineer-style bracelet provides a more complex pattern on wrist. A seatbelt nylon strap comes standard for a more casual look. Each watch will come packaged by default in a nylon MOLLE pouch – ideal for repurposing as a phone pocket, magazine pouch or hip flask holder.
