Tugela GMT, yeah baby!

Yep, sometimes we do follow market trends, and the popularity of the Tugela Super Blue LE could not be ignored. We’ve had so many requests for the Super Blue LE since the limited 120 pieces sold out, that we had to find a way to bring that colour combo back. So, please let me introduce – the Tugela GMT!

What are the differences to the Tugela? Quite a few actually:

  • Swiss Sellita GMT automatic movement vs Japanese SII NH35A
  • Double domed sapphire crystal vs single dome sapphire
  • Applied bead-blasted steel indices vs painted
  • 48-click bi-directional bezel vs 120-click uni-directional bezel
  • Super engineer style bracelet vs hexad style bracelet

As above, we’ll be offering the Tugela GMT in 3 colourways – Black, Super Blue, and Blasted. The indices and 3 hands will be filled with X1-C3 SuperLuminova, and the GMT hand will have BGW9, for nighttime contrast.

The case will be 316L stainless, 300m water resistance, same as the Tugela 3.0.

The samples are in the works and we’re hoping to have them before New Year, so stay tuned for pics of these as we get them. Price TBC.

2022 is going to be a cracker of a year for Draken!

Kia kaha.

Love the look. Hope you also include tapering of the bracelet

    1. Thanks Scott! Yes, the bracelet will indeed be tapered with screws on the removable links.

  2. Hi Mike, Great to see the super blue coming back and the spec looks really good. Well done for going down the double-dome path. Will the cases still be bead blasted or is there a chance of a ‘brushed’ finish?

    1. Cheers David! The case will be the same bead-blasted finish. I have thought about doing brushed finish, but just have not committed to it yet. I guess I’m a little afraid of what it will look like.

      1. Hi, shouldn’t there be a luminous bezel for dark reading? It’s a gmt.

        1. Hey Lawrence. The markers on the bezel insert will indeed be luminous.

      2. I think it would look sharp with a brushed finish.

        1. Cheers for the feedback Jason. Will see what we can do.

  3. Oh my heart. I need that superblue to match my superblue.

    1. Thanks Antonio!

  4. Looks great! Nice detail with the GMT hand being BGW9 for better nightime contrast. Curious if measurements like the dial size, lug to lug, and case thickness will be the same as the Tugela or if they aren’t what they will be? And if the bezel insert will be ceramic? Again great job with the design, the colorways look great, and I have a Super Blue Tugela so I’m glad to see the return of that colorway!

    1. Cheers Daniel. The bezel will be aluminium again. It’s impossible to get ceramic in that shade of blue, unfortunately. Yes, it will be the exact same dimensions as the Tugela. I think the only difference will be the position of the crown. It might be slightly closer to the dial. I cant wait to see the samples!

  5. Love the updates, especially the indices. I already have a Super Blue (and Shaka) so I’m thinking of going for the black dial/bezel myself. Can’t wait!

Looks awesome, Just a puzzle with a question, What is the material of the bezel, steel/ceramic/alum/sapphire glass, The blue with sapphire glass on the bezel, How is this blue looks like? It based on the color numbers I guess.

There are a lot of numbers on the bezel, and although they look perfect, bezel uses a lot of luminous If you can only keep it, some design are 20/30/40/50 and some indicate only

If can change the watch ring to sapphire glass, it can also balance the cost.

    1. Thanks Simon. The Bezel will be aluminium with all markers luminous. This is kind of what the colour will look like:
